What I read to day.

On Tuesday I read a book that my Dad got from the library, the book is called Pride of Baghdad. This book is a graphic novel written by Brian K. Vaughan. Niko Renrichon did the art for this book. This book shows a different side of the bombings in Baghdad not from the human point of view. The story takes place in the zoo of the city. There are a group of lions that live there. There is one adult male lion and a male cub with 2 female lions. One is the mother of the cub and the other is old and cranky. When there cage is hit by a bomb it makes a hole and they start to walk away. The old cranky lion wants to stay in the cage and refuses to go with them. The cub and 2 other lions start to exit the zoo. They see a stampede of animals and a giraffe standing next to them gets its head blown off by a bomb. The bomb makes the lions go unconscious and an army of evil monkeys steal the cub. When the lions wake up they notice their cub isn’t there and suddenly see the monkey tracks. They follow the tracks and end up at the monkey cage. After an exciting fight and return of the old lion, they continue (with the cub) to exit the zoo. When they get outside they wander in a forest, meet a mad turtle, and almost get run by tanks. I not giving away the rest of the story but I recommend it.
When you read stories about Baghdad you see a different point of view but I think there will never be another story quite as good as this book. It shows you a very interesting point of view. I would recommend this book to mature people; for others the themes may be unsuitable. This is no Lion King 2.

What I Read This Week

This week I started to read the book The Giver by Lois Lowry. The way this author writes this book s very strange. The town that the author makes the people live in is a perfect society that never encounters problems. The town doesn’t have seasons, years, and stores; in short it has about 22% of what we have here. They never need to make anything because weekly a plane fly’s in and drops supplies. Every job in the town is only there to make sure the town stays in shape and encounters no problems. Every citizen is assigned a job when they turn 12 except in that town they call a 12 year old a 12. The main character is assigned a very unusual job where he would experience thing that some people would never hear about. He would lie on a bead and the person who had the job before him would put his hands on his back and he would experience whatever the person wanted him to. Were I am at he experienced sledding, sun light, and sunburn. His job is collecting memories. With the help of the previous person who had the job he will experience any event that has a special feeling. The events that he will experience will not always be positive so he may feel pain. Eventually he will have to fully be in charge of his job without the help of the person who had the job before him.
