Have you ever thought what it would feel like to have no emotions and be color blind? In the book The Giver by Lois Lowry there is a town where everything functions perfectly. Every citizen has no emotion and is color bind because the town council thought it would be better for their town if the people didn’t have those things. There is only one person in the town that has the ability to feel emotions and see colors. That one person was getting old so they found someone to replace him. The old person gave the new person memories about the emotions and colors. The new person learns secrets about his town and thinks he can change something.
I just finished this book and I loved it. It had an interesting story line with interesting characters. It was a odd story but that adds on to making you want to read more. I would recommend this book to anyone who wanders what our world would be like if we didn’t have problems but not as many things that made us unique as individuals. This book is not for people younger than 10 because at some times this book can get a little weird. If you get board of books that go on for a long time don’t read this book you have to have patience to continue reading to the good parts you will love it. The end of this book is satisfying and makes you want to read the other 2 books by the author that tie in with this book. I have just finished this book and I am ready to read Gathering Blue, I think it is about the same town.
